At Sounds of Color Studio, our popular OCSA Audition Prep class is specifically focused on helping our students and families easily navigate the complex – and sometimes overwhelming - admissions process. Since we launched our first audition prep class over 10 years ago, we’ve developed one of the strongest track records in Orange County for helping students successfully audition into some of OCSA’s most notable conservatories including: integrated arts, piano, musical theater, digital art, production and design, and more. How We Teach • OCSA Audition Prep
Each of OCSA’s conservatories has its own set of admissions guidelines. Our goal is to help students and parents navigate the complex requirements for applying and auditioning, with the ultimate goal of securing a coveted enrollment spot! Our team of experienced teachers work hands-on with each student to help them prepare portfolios and audition tapes.
Skills We Teach • OCSA Audition Prep
Students in our OCSA Audition Prep classes receive a tailored learning experience based on their conservatories of interest.* Below is a sample of the skills we teach students in preparation for some of OCSA’s most competitive conservatories:
Integrated Arts:
Students prepare a multi-disciplinary portfolio including music, visual arts, creative writing, voice, monologues, and more.
Digital Media:
Students create a dynamic portfolio and sketchbook with digital and hand-drawn artwork including original character designs, self-portraits, observational drawings, and more.
Production & Design:
Students develop creativity and resourcefulness to design a scaled set piece based on a popular musical, play, or literary work.

OCSA Audition Prep Fees*
Group: 1 lesson/week • 2 hours • $300/month per student + $500 material fee**
*Class fees include 4 lessons per month. If a month has 5 weeks, there is no additional charge for the fifth class. All class fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
**Material fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, one-time fees.
***Depending on the selection of conservatories, additional private lessons may be required to complete a student’s portfolio in time for OCSA’s application deadlines.

Monday:
• 5:30pm - 7:30pm
*Group classes have limited availability. Class availability and schedule subject to change based on enrollment and demand. Make-up classes are not available if a student misses an OCSA Audition Prep class.
*All group classes are drop-off and pick-up.

Admission decisions are made solely by the OCSA admissions committee. Sounds of Color Studio’s audition prep classes are designed to help prepare students for the rigorous OCSA admissions process for select, competitive conservatories.

Our studio is the perfect environment for aspiring OCSA students to innovate and create masterful portfolios that stand out from the rest. With a team of experienced teachers (including many OCSA alumni!) and a vast library of resources at their disposal, OCSA Audition Prep students have all the tools for a successful audition.
Commonly Asked Questions About OCSA Audition Prep Classes

Students can apply to attend OCSA for 7th - 12th grade. Typically, students in our OCSA Audition Prep classes apply with the intention of attending OCSA for the following school year and grade level.

Admission to OCSA is very competitive, and popular conservatories have even lower acceptance rates than others. Although we cannot guarantee acceptance into OCSA, or any specific conservatory, we do promise to help your child prepare a stunning portfolio and audition to help them stand out from the competition. Upon enrollment in our OCSA Audition Prep classes, we will work with you to create a targeted list of conservatories that best fit your child's interests and skillset. Depending on the selection of conservatories, additional private lessons may be required to complete a student’s portfolio in time for OCSA’s application deadlines. We are very proud of our successful track record of helping students secure their acceptance into OCSA, but ultimately, decisions are made solely by the school's admissions committee.

Yes! Students who want to build their portfolio, but do not want to apply for OCSA, can join our Portfolio Prep classes. Enrollment for our Portfolio Prep classes is also offered year round and is available for students in 3rd grade and up.

Yes. Our teachers have extensive experience and/or educational backgrounds in their area of specialization. Every teacher is thoroughly vetted and goes through a comprehensive background check, including FBI and Department of Justice clearance.

We do our best to match every student with the perfect teacher, but if for any reason it's just not the right fit, we will be more than happy to find an alternative solution. Depending on the situation, this may include finding a new teacher for private lessons, or a different group class.

Yes! We have many students who require special learning accommodations, and our dedicated and caring teachers help everyone shine in their classes. Please inform us of any special circumstances during registration.
