These tailored classes help students build their artistic skillsets and create stunning portfolios in areas including production and design, visual art, or digital art. How We Teach • Portfolio Prep Classes
At Sounds of Color Studio our Portfolio Prep classes are designed to help students develop expert-level artistic skillsets. Students choose to build their portfolios in areas including production and design, visual art, or digital art. Our small class sizes allow teachers to work hands-on with students, providing tailored instruction to ensure students develop stunning portfolios in their artistic area of choice.
Skills We Teach • Portfolio Prep Classes
Each student in our Portfolio Prep Class receives an individualized learning experience based on their artistic area of interest. Students develop creativity, resourcefulness, and artistic expression in their portfolios from a variety of mediums in including watercolor, oil, acrylic, sketching, clay-making, digital art and more.

Portfolio Prep Class Fees*
Private: 1 lesson/week • 1 hour • $500/month + $500 material fee**
Group: 1 lesson/week • 1 hour • $200/month per student + $500 material fee**
*Private and group class fees include 4 lessons per month. If a month has 5 weeks, there is no additional charge for the fifth class. All class fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
**Material fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, one-time fees.

The earliest we recommend beginning with Portfolio Prep classes is 3rd grade. We divide our classes by age/grade level to ensure that students can easily collaborate with their classmates and receive tailored instruction.

Our OCSA Audition Prep classes specifically prepare students for the rigorous audition process in a variety of OCSA conservatories. Our Portfolio Prep classes, however, are designed for students who may not want to apply to OCSA, but are still eager to develop artistic skills and build their portfolios. These classes are available for students in 3rd grade and up.

Yes. Our teachers have extensive experience and/or educational backgrounds in their area of specialization. Every teacher is thoroughly vetted and goes through a comprehensive background check, including FBI and Department of Justice clearance.

We do our best to match every student with the perfect teacher, but if for any reason it's just not the right fit, we will be more than happy to find an alternative solution. Depending on the situation, this may include finding a new teacher for private lessons, or a different group class.
